How Much Does Home Automation Cost in Delhi?

A transparent breakdown of smart home installation costs in Delhi — from budget retrofits to full KNX builds — with realistic price ranges.

How Much Does Home Automation Cost in Delhi?

Why costs vary so dramatically

Home automation pricing in Delhi spans an enormous range — from ₹15,000 for a basic smart lighting starter kit to ₹40 lakh or more for a full KNX-wired villa installation. The variation comes from three factors: the protocol chosen (Wi-Fi vs. Zigbee vs. KNX), the scope of systems automated (lighting only vs. lighting, HVAC, security, blinds, AV), and whether the project is new construction (where cabling is cheaper) or a retrofit into an existing building.

Budget tier: ₹20,000 – ₹1,50,000

This range covers Wi-Fi and Zigbee-based retrofits for a 2–3 BHK apartment. Typical scope: smart bulbs or smart switches in main living areas, a voice assistant hub, one or two smart plugs, and a basic app/voice control setup. Products from Philips Hue, Syska Smart, Wipro Smart, and Xiaomi are commonly used at this tier. No new wiring is required in most cases. These systems work well for convenience features but have limitations in reliability, longevity, and integration depth.

Mid-range tier: ₹1,50,000 – ₹8,00,000

This range covers a comprehensive smart home for a 3–4 BHK using quality Zigbee or Z-Wave devices with a local hub (Home Assistant or similar). Typical scope: full lighting control with dimmers, motorized curtains, smart thermostats, video doorbell, multi-room audio, and a touchscreen controller. Wiring modifications may be required. Indian integrators like Ecostar, Edifice, and regional smart home companies typically operate in this segment. Professional installation and commissioning are included.

Premium tier: ₹8,00,000 – ₹40,00,000+

This range covers KNX-wired installations in larger homes (4+ BHK, villas, penthouses). KNX requires dedicated bus wiring installed during construction or major renovation — it cannot be easily retrofitted. Scope typically includes: full DALI lighting control, motorized shading on all windows, multi-zone HVAC automation, integrated security, AV distribution, and custom touch panels in every room. Hardware from Gira, Schneider, ABB, and Siemens is standard at this level. The investment reflects 20–30-year system longevity.

Ongoing costs to budget for

Beyond installation, factor in: annual maintenance contracts (typically 5–8% of installation cost per year for comprehensive coverage), app subscription fees for some cloud-dependent platforms, router/network upgrades (smart homes stress standard ISP routers — a quality mesh network adds ₹15,000–40,000), and professional reprogramming fees when you want to change automation logic. KNX systems have the lowest ongoing costs due to the absence of subscription dependencies.

Getting accurate quotes in Delhi

For a realistic quote, any serious integrator should provide: a site visit before quoting, a line-item specification listing every device and its make/model, separate costs for hardware, installation labour, and commissioning, and a post-installation warranty period. Be cautious of lump-sum quotes without device specifications — these frequently hide substitutions of lower-quality hardware. The Delhi NCR market has grown significantly and there are now several integrators with demonstrable KNX certification and project references.
